When should I book the electrician for a media wall?
Before the stud frame is boarded. That is when we run cables, fit back boxes and install conduit for AV cables. Coming back after the plasterboard is on is possible, but harder and messier. If a joiner is building the wall, it helps if we talk to them about the frame layout first.
Can the electric fire run from a normal socket?
Many inset electric fires plug into a standard socket or connect to a fused spur, but the manufacturer's instructions set the requirement and the clearances around the fire. Send us the model and we will position the supply where it is accessible and safe.
Where do LED drivers go?
LED strips usually need a driver to convert mains power to low voltage. Drivers can fail over time, so we place them somewhere reachable, such as behind an access panel, in a cupboard or in an alcove, rather than sealed inside the wall.
What affects the cost of media wall wiring?
The number of sockets and spurs, the lighting zones and controls, whether a new circuit is needed, the distance from existing circuits and how many AV routes are required. A simple TV wall is a smaller job than a full-height wall with a fire, shelving and several lighting zones.
