Can I just plug my new oven in?
Some smaller built-in single ovens are designed to run from a standard fused connection, but most double ovens, range cookers and induction hobs need a dedicated cooker circuit. The manufacturer's instructions state the requirement. Send them to us and we will tell you exactly what your appliance needs.
What affects the cost of a cooker installation?
The main factors are whether the existing circuit is suitable, how far the consumer unit is from the cooker, whether cables can be hidden easily and whether the consumer unit has space and RCD protection. A simple swap is far less work than running a new circuit.
How long will it take?
A straight connection on a suitable existing circuit is usually a short visit. Running a new cooker circuit takes longer, depending on the cable route through floors and walls. We tell you how long to expect when we quote, and we aim to offer same-week appointments where possible.
Do I get a certificate?
Yes. A new circuit comes with an Electrical Installation Certificate, and alterations to an existing circuit come with a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate, both under BS 7671. New circuits are also notifiable under Building Regulations, and we explain at quote stage how that is handled.
Do you fit cookers in rented properties?
