Can I have a socket put on the outside wall?
Yes. An outdoor socket on the house wall is one of the most common garden jobs. It is usually connected to a nearby indoor circuit with RCD protection, using an IP-rated weatherproof socket. It is far safer than running an extension lead through a window or door.
What affects the cost of garden electrics?
The distance from the house, whether cable needs burying or can be clipped along walls, the ground conditions and surface, the number of sockets or supplies and whether a new circuit is needed. A long run under an established lawn or patio is more work than a short run along a fence.
Do I need a separate circuit for a hot tub?
Most hot tubs need a dedicated circuit from the consumer unit with RCD protection and a local isolation switch near the tub. The manufacturer's instructions give the power requirement. Send us the details and we will confirm whether your supply and consumer unit can take it.
What regulations apply to outdoor electrics?
