Electrician in St Mellons: Cardiff Electrician is Jorge Simoes, a qualified and insured local electrician based in Cardiff since 2014. In St Mellons we upgrade consumer units and fit EV chargers, extra sockets, garage electrics and smart doorbells.
St Mellons is on the eastern edge of Cardiff, and it is part of our home patch. The area combines the original village of Old St Mellons with the large estates built from the late twentieth century onwards, and that mix shapes the electrical work people need.
Many homes on the St Mellons and Trowbridge estates still have the consumer unit they were built with. Older boards can lack the protection that a modern consumer unit provides, so an upgrade is one of the most worthwhile jobs for these houses, especially before adding new circuits. Families here often want extra sockets and USB points, electric showers and better kitchen electrics as their needs grow.
A lot of local homes have driveways and garages, which makes them well suited to EV chargers, garage electrics and outdoor lighting. Smart doorbells and security cameras are also popular. In the older properties of Old St Mellons, wiring may be older still and worth checking. All work is carried out to BS 7671, and quotes are free with no obligation.

Electrician in St Mellons: FAQs
Is my St Mellons consumer unit due an upgrade?
If your home still has the consumer unit it was built with, it may lack RCD protection on all circuits. That does not always mean it is unsafe, but it is worth checking, particularly before adding an EV charger or shower. We will inspect it and give you a free quote.
Can you put power and lights into my garage?
Yes. Many St Mellons homes have a garage that is used as a workshop, gym or storage. We install sockets, lighting and dedicated circuits where needed, all protected properly and installed to BS 7671. Call 029 2000 1399 to arrange a free, no-obligation quote.
Do you fit Ring doorbells and security cameras?
Yes. We install Ring doorbells and security cameras, including wired power supplies so you are not left changing batteries. We help you choose sensible positions to cover your front door, drive and garden. It is a popular job on the St Mellons and Trowbridge estates.

I had a number of small electrical jobs for Jorge to do. He completed everything quickly, professionally and to a high standard. Jorge was very polite and helpful and clearly takes pride in his work. I would 100% call him if I need more electrical work doing.
I have been a private landlord 25 years and can count the reviews I've left on one hand. I've known Jorge several years. He is a trusted professional, timely and charges competitive rates.
We initially asked Jorge to help us after being let down by another electrician, and he was only too happy to help make some bad work safe... Jorge always explains what is going on and helps us understand more about how electrics work. He is thorough, leaves no mess behind and very reliable.
